Prologue - A novel in progress

Night 1.
He came to him in a dream, wearing that same tight shirt and jeans he wore in that first picture he ever saw of him. In a sense, it was love at first sight. Fascinated by the skinny jeans, that weren’t too skinny but fit tidy, and that innocent, naïve smile, he clicked go and wrote a message that was responded almost instantly. It started there, and went somewhere and then nowhere all the same. He named him Red in his dream, because he could not remember what his name was in sleeping hours. Just as later, he would not be able to remember what his name was when he was awake, but would be able to easily tell you what his real name was.
“You’ve been waiting long?” Red asked, as he sat on the bench. “No just a couple of minutes” Blue said looking at his watch. Red sat down and began looking into his backpack. His demeanor was different from what Blue remembered, but all the same he tried not to pay attention to this stranger. It was all new to him even when he recognized Red. “Do I know you?” Blue asked, boldly. Red looked up at him and examined him with his eyes, the sun up above was shinning bright but the air was nice and cool. “I don’t think so, I mean I go to UC Irvine. Do you go there?” “No, I don’t, actually” he responded. “I’m Blue by the way”. Red began looking for something in his bag and couldn’t seem to find it. He appeared frustrated. “So, whats your major?” Blue asked, “Oh, I’m in civil engineering”. The response struck a cord, but didn’t understand why. It was a painful response, a sort of reminder of what type of guy he was. “So you are logical, good at math, and completely disregard every single emotion known to man!” Blue exclaimed in a fit of rage. Red looked up at him in puzzled confusion. “Umm..what are you talking about?”. Blue didn’t understand the question, nor he didn’t understand why he exclaimed what he did. He also didn’t understand why he didn’t feel shame, which is something he would normally feel under this awkward situation.
The cool air around them became cooler, and all of the sudden it was raining, and there appeared to be a cover on the bus bench that wasn’t there before. “Oh, I’m sorry. I really don’t know what I’m saying nowadays”. “You’re crazy” he said smiling. The phrase was oh too familiar, but couldn’t remember under what context in his awake life. He felt himself smile warmly at the phrase. “A-ha!” Red exclaimed as he pulled out what he was looking for. It was a pink, plastic rose. “Here you go,” he said. He was struck by what was happening. “Why are you giving me this?” he asked, confused but intrigued and excited all the same. “Your bus is coming; you have to go so I wanted to give you this, because I think you might have confused with something else. You are just crazy”. He found himself smile and his eyes began to water. A bus appeared out of nowhere. “Aren’t you boarding?” Blue said in desperation. “You know I can’t go where you are going, but if you see me on the other side, remind me how great of a guy you are.” “I thought you didn’t know who I was” Blue said, as he stepped on the first step of the bus door. “I don’t but obviously, somewhere I do”. “You believe in metaphysics too? Oh no, you must be worse than I thought” Blue said with a smirk. “You are just too crazy” Red said. Blue boarded the train en route to reality.
