I think jealousy is a feeling of getting left behind. Somewhere along the way someone arrived at it first, whatever you wanted---a job, an education, a boyfriend. And you are stuck there in the middle of the road with an empty tank, while you look at the tire tracks to remind you that you were left behind.
In my case, not only is my tank empty, but I feel someone decided to jump out in the middle of the road and slash my tires along the way. What I fail to realize, and am realizing now is that some cars on the road came with superchargers-- advantages that I didn’t get on the get go.
Maybe its ok being left behind—going on your own pace. That way you hit the roads you are ready for, the bumpy ones, the cracked ones—each with a special tire you develop along the way.
